On our Everyday Mamas Instagram account yesterday, Roz—mom, nurse and party planner—shared some fun and festive ways to celebrate this upcoming 4th of July. Roz is always full of creative ideas on how to celebrate the holidays, and she runs the Instagram account @poptartsandpeonies where she shares her party ideas and quick DIY projects.

Whether you’re celebrating with just family, or having a group of people over, here are a few ideas for you:

Inflate a Handful of Red, White and Blue Balloons

Her number one DIY tip is have a balloon inflator on hand—$19 on Amazon. She used the red, white, and blue balloons to make a backdrop for photos by tacking them to the garage. This makes for a bright, cheerful entrance to your home, and its a fun, easy way to add some patriotic color.

Popsicle Cocktails

When it comes to party drinks, her favorite go-to is a simple glass of champagne with a firecracker popsicle stuck into it—makes for a great wow-factor! Note: For pregnant moms, this works in mocktail form too.

“Don’t overthink things, and keep it really simple,” Roz says.

Patriotic Attire

Another way to get in the 4th of July spirit is to wear patriotic clothing—bathing suits, t-shirts, etc. Hats, bows, and headbands are other fun accessories to add too.

Add Some Festive Decor

Ribbons—purchase some strands of ribbon from Joanns for some easy vintage-inspired decor. Tie a few strands of ribbon to vases, or use them to to make ribbon wands for kids.

Printables—artwork that you can download and print yourself—are another quick way to add some festive decor. You can request some specially made printables (like the one shown in the video above from Palm to Pine Design), or look around online (like these, here).

S’mores Party Favors

If you’re hosting a party (or attending someone else’s), Roz recommends sending guests home with a s’mores kit as a party favor. These are perfect for the summer, and a nice way to remember the fun evening. Tip: If you’re short on time, Trader Joes sells some s’mores premade!
