Janet Easter is currently a stay-at-home mom of 3 little ones. She spent 9 years in New York City and co-founded Verily Magazine as the Style Editor.
Now, Janet and her family live in a beautiful, 1906 Georgian Foursquare home in a borough of Pittsburgh, where Janet splits her time between wrangling toddlers, arranging flowers, blogging on Ever Easter, and curating thrift clothes for sale at Ever Thrift (find her on Instagram as @janetseaster).
We asked Janet to share a tour of her home with us. She has a gift for finding and creating beautiful spaces (and a lot of experience!), but with three little ones, you know she places a high value on function, too.

Their home is full of wonderful features and character that are original to the house, from woodwork to old fireplaces and built-in bookshelves (where she tucks in toys amongst the books!). We love how she mixes styles and eras with confidence, and focuses on bringing joy to all who enter their home.
In addition to being a full-time mom, Janet also has a passion for arranging flowers and uncovering unique finds at thrift stores. Her home is full of fun DIY additions: a spray-painted light fixture, a chalk-painted dresser, and even two chalkboards made out of dresser mirrors she found on Craigslist.
One of her favorite “special touches” is to have fresh flowers in many rooms of her home.
“Fresh flowers have become so important to me. I’ve made a separate budget just to allow for fresh flowers every few months. They can completely breathe new life into a home.”

Using a neutral palette as a starting point, she likes to layer in texture with decorative pillows and wicker baskets (which double as toy storage too).
But more than anything, Janet says, she hopes that other people experience joy and love when they come to visit. Homes don’t have to be Pinterest-perfect to be a place that feels welcoming to your friends and loved ones.
“Appreciate what you have, and have fun with making your home beautiful in your own way. It will really bring joy to all those who come into your home.”
